Farmers Market of the Ozarks (FMO) will be celebrating one special shopper’s birthday this Saturday, June 2, 2012. Dorothy Doering is a loyal farmers market shopper and can be found every Saturday at market collecting her week’s groceries. Doering will turn 100 years old on June 3 and to thank her, FMO will hold a special party in her honor at 9:00 a.m. at market that will include a singing of “Happy Birthday” and dessert from all the market’s vendors.
“Dorothy is a loyal shopper who graces market every Saturday,” said FMO vendor Ron Shawgo. “She even got a new walker recently that is better suited for the FMO chip and seal. She told me that she planned on buying a new car for her birthday.”
Doering will be at the market Saturday as she always is with Eddie and Betty Maples. She was born on June 3, 1912, and is a Nixa, Mo., native. She graduated from Missouri State University and served as the head librarian for Drury University until she retired.
Join FMO as we celebrate the years with Dorothy Doering this Saturday at market at 9:00 a.m. and join in the singing.
